BARNOLDSWICK will once again become the venue for one of the best inland beach's in the country.

Although the town could not be any further from the sea, tonnes of sand are shipped in during August and the town square is transformed into a sandy cove with many seaside activities.

The month-long Barnoldswick Beach starts on Monday and will be open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, until August 27.

As well as the sand itself, Barnoldswick Beach will feature a surf simulator for beach-goers young and old, Donkey Days with donkey rides for children, treasure trails taking families around Barnoldswick's town centre and a craft corner, which has a lot of creative, hands-on activities for youngsters.

The beach is organised by Barnoldswick Town Council and although it is free, donations are welcome to cover the cost of the event.

Call 01282 788090 or e-mail barnoldswicktowncouncil@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer for the event.
