STAFF at the Boots Pharmacy in Grassington plumped for pedal power to raise cash for Children in Need.

Five members of staff took it in turns to to push the pedals of an exercise bike and asked customers to guess how many miles they would 'travel' in seven hours. By the end of the day - and 51 miles later - they had raised £251 for the charity.

Manager Carol Champion said: "It was hard work at times but we were very pleased to have raised so much. We'd like to thank everyone who contributed."

They are also holding an afternoon tea for Children in Need in Church House, Grassington, on September 24, 1-4pm, when children will be able to meet Pudsey Bear.

Carol will also be taking part in the Great North Run half-marathon on September 11 to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.
