SETTLE'S Victoria Hall will host a free workshop on ways for community groups and individuals to get cash for projects from Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF) on Tuesday, October 11, 1-4pm.
The event was to have been held earlier in the summer but had to be postponed.
Members of HLF's Yorkshire and Humber team and Craven Volunteer Service will provide advice and tips on how to make a good application.
The organisation can distribute cash for a wide range of projects from those looking at local stories and community history to archaeology, archives, museums and historic buildings.
Chiefs say they are keen to encourage more projects from the 'natural heritage' sector, examples of which are: improving, expanding and connecting threatened habitats; surveying and recording endangered species; teaching people about local geology and landscapes; helping people to research and repair an historic public park; training people to care for an historic cemetery.
A spokeswoman said that people do not need to to have a definite project idea in mind - the aim of the workshop is for them to find out more about what support is available.
Places should be booked in advance by telephoning 01756 795838 or by email to: charlotte@cravencvs.org.uk.
One-to-one sessions between 4 and 5pm on the day can also be booked.
