A LANCASTER University student welfare officer, who turned over his car on Settle bypass, on November 25, last year, left Skipton magistrates court £465 out of pocket.
Richard Yates, 49, of Coolridge Avenue, Lancaster, pleaded guilty to carelessly driving his Smart hatchback and was fined £346, ordered to pay £85 towards court costs and a £34 surcharge.
Magistrates were told he was not engaged in a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre but simply lost concentration.
