SKIPTON and District Railway Society is on track to stage its third annual showcase day at the Soroptimist Rooms in Otley Street, Skipton, on Saturday.

The open day, which runs from 10am to 4pm, will feature society members showcasing the skills required to construct model railways, including building locos, wagons, track, buildings, scenery and couplings. They will also demonstrate working models.

Admission is free and tea and coffee will be available.

The previous two events targeted prospective new members and a number of new faces came on board as a direct result.

Potential new members are welcome at the 2017 renewal and should make themselves known if interested or want to learn more about the society and its workings.

Alternatively, contact club secretary Trevor Shaw on 01943 831935, email secretary@skiptonrailsoc.org.uk or visit the society's website at skiptonrailsoc.org.uk

Later this year, Skipton and District Railway Society, which was founded in 1968 and is on the verge of its milestone 50th anniversary year, will stage its annual two-day exhibition on Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13, at The Skipton Academy in Gargrave Road.
