PUPILS at Giggleswick Junior School have welcomed back artist Stephen Waterhouse to unveil a large piece of artwork which they have helped to him to create.

Last November the Yorkshire-born illustrator and author worked with every pupil in a series of workshops in which they put forward their ideas and drawings of what should go on the three-metre wide piece.

They completed 'head and shoulders' portraits and drawings of their favourite outdoor activities which Stephen has incorporated into the work. It has taken him two months to finish and will take pride of place in the school entrance.

Stephen said: "This artwork was a joy to work on from start to finish! Both the staff and the pupils at Giggleswick Junior school are incredibly enthusiastic and hard working. The staff have all been very supportive, positive and helpful throughout the design process."

The artwork is one of the new additions to the school following investment in an outdoor learning area.
