THE end of lambing time in the Dales has been celebrated in Horton-in-Ribblesdale with a the annual lambing service, at Newhouses Farm.
The Rev Stephen Dawson, priest-in-charge at the village's St Oswald's Church, thanked Geoff and Jeanette Davidson for opening their farm and farmhouse to more than 40 visitors, who fed the farm's pet lambs.
Teenage brother-and-sister Ted and Joanna Wilson, of Selside, spoke about life and work on a hill farm, while Stephen's brother John Dawson, a farmer in Clapham, spoke about the what the next events in the farming season.
Stephen said: ""Part of this event is to connect with the animals and experience the farm, but we also come to show our support for farming families who give such stability and continuity to life in rural parishes.
"Busy farmers always have time to help others and we are grateful for the way they enrich the wider community."
