VILLAGERS in Embsay and Eastby have played host to a party of mature students from Pont de Vaux in l’Ain department of France, keen to brush up on their English.
In a non-stop weekend, the 22 guests enjoyed visits to York, Malham Cove and Haworth and tucked into fish and chips at Bizzie Lizzies, a vintage afternoon tea at Annie & Betty’s in Grassington, traditional Sunday dinner at Le Bistro des Amis in Skipton and a full English breakfast at Abbot’s Harbour, East Marton.
As a gesture of thanks to the English hosts, a ‘pop up’ French café appeared in Embsay where French delicacies were served by the guests, suitably dressed in berets, stripy jumpers and false moustaches.
The weekend was hailed a resounding success and friendships between the French guests and English hosts have most definitely been made.
