ONE of Craven's best-known hotels has received a top accolade from the Yorkshire Society.

Skipton's Rendezvous Hotel took the 'Business of the Year' award for 2017 from the society, which was formed to promote the county.

At a presentation event and dinner in Leeds' Hilton Hotel, Yorkshire Society chairman Keith Madeley said the award was "a huge pat on the back for the Rendezvous team."

He said: "Their mission is to bring as many visitors to Yorkshire as possible so they may experience the culture, tranquillity and beauty that our county has to offer.

“We’re absolutely delighted for them, especially as they were up against some fantastic Yorkshire businesses."

Mr Madeley added: "The hotel’s long standing employees thrive on providing all guests with their own special brand of Yorkshire hospitality which resulted in Skipton being crowned the National Campaign for Courtesy ‘Top Town’ of the year 2016 – the first Yorkshire town to ever receive this accolade.

"All of this, coupled with their association to charity ‘Petal’ which has raised a phenomenal £1.3 million to aid research in to Childhood cancer, placed them as standout winners within this category.

"Well done to the whole team!"

The Yorkshire Society was started as a not-for-profit organisation in 1980 to encourage businesses, charities and individuals to join together in promoting the county.
