RETRO vintage fun was the order of the day at Bentham Golf Club for its second annual VintFest event.

Appealing to the growing appetite for nostalgia, the event attracted holidaymakers staying at the nearby Riverside Caravan Park and day visitors from the area as well as Bentham people and golf club members.

Organiser Isabel Marshall and her family put together a packed weekend of activities, with stalls selling a variety of original and reproduction crafts for the home and to wear.

On the Sunday, the club car park was filled with classic and vintage cars and motorbikes, including a trio of classic Minis - from the days when they were still 'mini', a 1950s Morris Minor and an immaculate red 1966 Jaguar Mk2.

Old School Jazz provided the musical backdrop, and there was live swing music from Quay Change.

A classic car boot sale revealed more artefacts and memorabilia, while the golfers suitably clothed in period attire took to the greens for a 'vintage scramble'.

The catering team put together a special menu for the event including retro favourites from chicken in a basket to knickerbocker glory and in keeping with the recently revived passion for gin, anyone enjoying a classic tipple was well catered for at the bar with Gatsby inspired cocktails and mocktails, Gin & Jazz, and Kevin Harrison from Curios Cocktails on hand.

Isabel said she was thrilled with the turnout: “I’m really pleased we were able to provide a versatile venue for what started as a small event but is rapidly gaining momentum and becoming a fully-fledged festival. We’re already getting interest in VintFest 2018 and are happy to hear from anyone who’d like to be involved next year”.
