The Cave Rescue Organisation came to the rescue after a dog fell onto rocks on Pen-y-ghent on Monday.
Benson, a five-year-old ‘sprocker’ spaniel fell on rocks at Horton Scar and was unable, or unwilling, to move his back legs, the Clapham-based team said in a statement.
The owner requested assistance to get the dog off the hill.
A small team responded, and together with a National Park warden, conveyed the dog down to the owners vehicle in Horton, from where the dog was taken for treatment at a local vet.
The team spent eight volunteer hours on the rescue.
Benson, was seen by a vet, who diagnosed a back strain – he is expected to make a full recovery.
