LAST week's Craven Curiosity had everyone stumped - although Anne Lindsay made a brave stab by guessing it was a door knocker. Can see why you thought that Anne. It was in fact part of a Victorian bone marrow scoop and is made out of bone.

Experts at Craven Museum and Gallery, where it is now on show, tell us: "Most bone marrow scoops were made out of silver. Bone marrow spoons first came into use during the late 17th Century when bone marrow was considered a delicacy only the wealth could afford and meat was still a luxury. Bone marrow spoons were replaced by scoops in the late half of the 18th Century. "

Suggestions for this week's Craven Curiosity should be sent before 8am on Monday to lesley.tate@cravenherald.co.uk
