THE Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is releasing the latest title in its pub walks series aimed at adventurous hill walkers who enjoy long days out followed by a refreshing beer in a welcoming pub.

CAMRA’s Wild Pub Walks author Daniel Neilson takes readers on two walks around the Yorkshire Dales, each of which has one or more pubs at the journey’s end.

The rambles include a trek from Malham to Settle and up Arkengarthdale. A total of nine Yorkshire Dales pubs (four of which are in Craven) have been recommended within the guide including the Lister Arms and Buck Inn, both in Malham, Talbot Arms in Settle and Hart’s Head Hotel in Giggleswick.

The book also covers routes across Scotland (Highlands and Borders), England (Peak District, Lake District and the North York Moors) and Wales (Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons and Mid Wales).

Mr Neilson said: “There are a huge variety of walks in this book. Where possible, we’ve chosen walks that end right in a village or a pub. A particular favourite of ours is a pub with a ‘muddy boots welcome’ sign and fantastic beer garden or a log fire. Somewhere you can easily drop in for a pint post-walk and be made to feel welcome.”

Wild Pub Walks includes detailed insights into fascinating local places, practical recommendations, safety information and easy-to-use ordnance survey mapping with detailed route markings.

All of the walks are challenging and vary between eight and 13 miles.
