TRAFFIC crossing the narrow road bridge on the A65 at Coniston Cold is currently being controlled following a collision earlier today.
Police were called at 10.50am to reports of an HGV having collided with a wall on the narrow bridge.
Investigations are ongoing on the bridge, which only last year was closed to two way traffic for several weeks after an HGV demolished part of the parapet.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire County Council said: "This morning at Coniston Cold Bridge a wagon was involved in a collision which knocked own 15m of parapet wall on the same side as recent previous collisions.
North Yorkshire County Council has therefore set up temporary traffic lights to install a single lane closure with reflective barriers over the section of the missing parapet. The county council has also made arrangements to install a temporary concrete barrier over the section of missing parapet tomorrow morning with the retrieval of stone and permanent repair to commence as soon as possible."
