FATHER and daughter cycling tandem team are bidding to cycle both ways along the Leeds-Liverpool canal to raise funds for a cancer centre.

Kate Hurst, 32, and her 66 year-old dad, Joe, from Clitheroe, hope to complete the journey in stages by the end of September.

"Recently a close member of our family has been successfully treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre in Preston twice within the last five years. It has motivated us to do some fundraising for Rosemere. We've set ourselves a fundraising target of £500."

They will be astride their tandem built for them in 1993 by Swallow Tandems, near Lake Vyrnwy in Powys, Wales.
