THE funeral of a Rimington man who was tragically killed by a bull will be held next week in Gisburn.

Martin Leverton, 70, died on August 25 when he was crushed by a bull at Gisburn Auction Mart, in Gisburn, where he had worked for more than 20 years.

The family recently attended Gisburn Auction Mart, where secretary and treasurer Richard Turner asked all staff, buyers and sellers, to pause for a minute's silence.

Mr Leverton was a passionate follower of world rally racing and fan of the late World Rally Champion, Colin McRae.

And his funeral will take place on Friday, September 15, which is actually the tenth anniversary of Colin McRae's death.

The funeral will be held at 1.30pm in Gisburn Church and then 3pm at Skipton Crematorium.

Audrey, his wife of 49 years, and his family would like to invite everyone back to Gisburn Auction Mart after the service for refreshments.

Mr Leverton and Audrey were enthusiastic followers of rally racing and attended the World Rally Championship in Wales every year, taking his Subaru car to all of the stages, meeting other rally enthusiasts.

Mr Leverton, who farmed at Tosside before he sold up in 1997, is survived by his wife Audrey, son Ian and his wife Heather, youngest son David and his wife Sharon and grandchildren Jack, Charlie, Reece and Courtney.
