SKIPTON'S Cancer Support Yorkshire is holding an open day to celebrate the third anniversary of its base in Otley Street, on Wednesday, September 20, from 10.30am – 2.30pm.

Over a brew and a biscuit people can find out more about the services and support on offer, said Centre Co-ordinator Debi Hawkins.

“Even if people don’t need our services now, we feel it’s important for people to know where we are and what support we offer, should they or people they know ever need support," she said.

Over the past three years the centre has seen almost 800 local people from across Skipton, Craven, Wharfedale and Airedale, who have been affected by cancer.

Initially opening for two days a week, it is now open five days a week supported by at staff team of three and 25 volunteers.
