A SANTA Fun Run held at Barnoldswick in December is to raise money for a West Craven based cancer support charity.

The fifth annual Santa Fun Run is set to benefit Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends, a charity which aims is to make a difference to the lives of local people affected by any type of cancer.

The Santa Fun Run takes place on Sunday, December 10, starting at West Craven High School, and is expected to see 300 Santas walk, jog and run to raise money for the charity. Registration opens at 10am and the run starts at 11am.

Entry cost £10 per person, which goes directly to the charity, and includes a free Santa suit and on completion a commemorative medal along with a hot beverage and a mince pie.

Local property experts Petty, are once again sponsoring the Santa Fun Run along with many local businesses such as Barlic Bites, KB Tyres, West Craven Insurance, Silhouette, Hope Technology and MAD Gym.

Ian Bythell, director at Petty, said: “The Santa Fun Run is important to the charity because it involves local businesses and the public coming together to support this fantastic cause. The community spirit on the day is amazing from people volunteering their time to help run the event, participating as a Santa or spectating and cheering everyone along.”

Event organiser Sharon Hurst said: “It’s fantastic to get support from local businesses like Petty but obtaining sponsorship from entrants, even if it is a minimum amount of £20 per person, is incredibly important to us and would mean £6,000 would go towards continuing to provide support for people affected by cancer in Pendle, Craven and Ribble Valley.”
