RESIDENTS and businesses across Craven are being urged to take note of changes to waste collections over the Christmas and New Year holiday.

In addition, Craven District Council offices will close early on Thursday afternoon (December 21) at 2.45pm, and not re open until Tuesday, January 2.

There will however be an out of hours emergency number, 01653 699 392.

In the week after Christmas, household waste collections will take place a day later than usual.

There will be no collections on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, with collections normally taking place on Tuesdays, being moved to the Wednesday.

For those whose rubbish is collected on Fridays, the collection due to take place on December 29, will take place the next day, on Saturday.

Commercial collections which were due for collection on Christmas Day, and on Boxing Day, will now take place on Wednesday December 27.

Collections will return to normal in the following week.

Once again, the council will be providing a one off garden waste collection in the middle of January. Collections will take place on the usual garden waste collection days, from January 15.

Residents can arrange the free collection of their Christmas trees by calling the council before Friday, January 12.

Any requests made after this date will be treated as a bulky collection and a charge will be made. For those who pay for their garden waste to be collected, trees can be placed beside the brown bin on their scheduled collection day for the one off collection in January, but need to be first cut into small pieces.
