Glusburn WI has presented a tree to the village primary school.
Late last year a group from Glusburn and Crosshills WI attended a conference on the topic of climate change at Alma House, Ripon, the North Yorkshire West Federation WI headquarters.
A consequence of this conference was that each attending WI group was given a rowan (mountain ash) tree to plant this spring in their local community.
It was agreed that Glusburn Community Primary school would be the beneficiary of this tree.
Three members of the WI - president Pat Newton, Aileen Holmes and Anne Rawlinson - together with Neil Bithell, the school's deputy head, have now planted the tree on the path adjacent to the school’s playing field.
