Skipton Building Society has stepped forward to join local Rotarians and the Craven Herald to showcase the achievements of Craven's young people.

The company has become an active partner in the Young Achievers Awards Scheme.

Mike Leeming, president of Skipton Rotary Club, said "Skipton's two Rotary clubs are delighted to be able to work hand in hand with Skipton Building Society in supporting our young people.

"Skipton Building Society give encouragement in all manner of ways but this is very much in line with what they do best - invest in the future."

The Young Achievers Awards encompass everything the society champions for young people in and around the Craven area. The society has strong links with all of the categories covered by the awards; arts, music, sport and many varieties of community projects.

All have an emphasis on developing and encouraging the youth of today.

Coun Carole Manley, Skipton Town Mayor, said: "A scheme of this kind, recognising the positive contribution young people make across our area, is long overdue. The town council is delighted to be playing a part and I'm really looking forward to being involved in both the judging and the ceremony itself next March."

Nominations open today (Friday) and a coupon to send off for a form, together with more information, can be found on page 14 of today's Craven Herald.
