West Craven Sports Centre has been ranked one of the best leisure facilities in the country by an industry watchdog.

The Barnoldswick centre came in the top two per cent of league tables compiled following a stringent quality assessment by leisure regulators "Quest".

With a score of 82 per cent, West Craven Sports Centre joined only 11 out of 800 other sites up and down the country in scoring 81 per cent or more in the league tables.

Sue Slater, from Pendle Leisure Trust, said: "It is important to us that the Pendle public are safe in the knowledge that their sports facilities are being managed to the highest standard possible and are being monitored and recognised by the industry's quality initiative.

"Since going into a trust, we are now more than ever focusing on our customers' needs and striving to meet them to a high standard.

"This quality mark is an assurance that we are giving our customers an excellent service."
