FRIENDS of DalesBus say more people are needed to help keep the popular bus services to the Dales up and running.

The group campaigns for accessible and affordable public transport for visitors and residents to and within the Dales, and helps support DalesBus services from West and North Yorkshire into the area.

The group is holding its annual meeting at Coopers Bar on Otley Road in Guiseley, opposite Morrison’s, on Saturday November 12, when it hopes as many people as possible will attend, find out about the work the group has been doing over doing over the past year and its plans for the future.

The DalesBus services are very popular, but are dependent on the support of volunteers to enable them to continue to thrive and provide sustainable access to the Dales for everyone.

Paul Harrison, chair of the friends group, said “If the group is to continue helping to support the DalesBus service it needs new members. We also need people that can help keep our website up to date, help in producing and distributing our newsletter and help in distributing the DalesBus timetables to cafes, libraries and other outlets throughout West Yorkshire and the Dales area.

“We need more walk leaders to help lead guided walks and people to assist in raising funds to keep the services running. This can be done in a variety of ways, from running a fundraising activity or event, to helping put a funding bid together or using your contacts to encourage companies to donate funds to the group."

Anyone able to help, or with ideas is urged to attend the meeting, or to email Mr Harrison at: friendsofdalesbuschair@gmail.com“

The AGM on November 12 starts at 1pm. More information about the Friends of DalesBus is available online at www.friendsofdalesbus.org
