A SERVICE of thanksgiving was held in Holy Trinity on Sunday (March 26) to mark the end of 49 years of Craven District Council. The theme was applauding those who gave service to others- especially councillors, past and present, many who were present in the pews mingling with townsfolk who joined in the service.

I would like to add my applause and appreciation to a reader’s letter a few weeks back, for those who have spent hours of their time (and life) reading through reams of minutes and notes, attending various meetings and walking our streets to observe and respond to residents queries and problems. Those who have carried out their public duties responsibly, often going the extra mile for their community.

A great big thank you to all of you.

Let’s hope that we in Craven are served as diligently by our new North Yorkshire Council.
