MOTORISTS are reminded to watch out for slow moving traffic on the A65 and throughout the district as travellers with horses and carts, caravans, and bow tops head for Appleby Horse Fair this June.

Slow-moving convoys have already been seen heading north along the route with regular travellers seen in their favourite overnight resting spots.

The fair takes place from Thursday, June 8 to Wednesday, June 14.

It is a huge gathering which can attract between 40,000 - 60,000 travellers, non-travellers, tourists and sightseers.

Last year a horse was killed on the A66 in Cumbria following a collision with a lorry.
