SKIPTON MP Julian Smith dropped in on the offices of Carers Resource during the recent national carers week.

The charity, which has an office in Skipton, marked carers week with a number of events celebrating the work of unpaid carers. It assists unpaid carers throughout the Craven and Harrogate area by providing information, advice and support. Mr Smith took the opportunity to speak to members of staff and to thank them for all their hard work, particularly over the Covid pandemic.

He spoke to Chris Whiley, the charity's CEO, and staff for a round-table discussion, to learn more about the organisation, how the charity supports carers in the area and some of the key difficulties it faces.

Mr Smith said, “Unpaid carers are some of the often-unsung heroes in our community.

Carers’ Resource makes a real difference to people’s lives, and I was really pleased to be able to meet with the team and talk through some of the particular challenges they and carers face every day.”
