A CELEBRATION of North Craven shops, work, products and activities will take place at St John's Methodist Church, Church Street, Settle, on the afternoon of Sunday, September 17.

Organised by St John's Eco group, Let's Talk Local will include guest speakers in cheese, farming and shoe-making as well as a number of stalls, activities to get involved in, and refreshments.

Philip Taylor of the group, said: "What makes Settle and its surroundings such a special place is its independent specialist shops, businesses, entrepreneurs and people with extraordinary skills and talents. We want to demonstrate just what a vibrant place it is.

"We want to show people why they ever to shop online or traipse around a shopping mall."

Simon Ferro, of Courtyard Dairy, will talk about how the cheese shop became world-beating; and 'peasant farmer' John Dawson, who farms near Clapham, and who has appeared in television programmes, will say why people should put their trust in local farmers.

Town cobbler and shoemaker, Dan Nelson will demonstrate the skills that have been handed down through generations; and potter 'Rachel in the Dales' will be inviting people to have a go on the potters' wheel.

Action for Climate Emergency Settle (ACE) will be showing people how to join the roof-top solar revolution by becoming part of Settle's Energy Local Club, and Settle Hub will be demonstrating how to slow cook some winter warmers.

The free event will take place from 2pm to 5pm.
