Bolton Abbey

Rector’s message: This Sunday is the third Sunday in Lent when we continue to walk with our Lord in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights. This period of Lent is a time of self-reflection and penitence where we examine our lives and seek to make amends. The New Testament reading this week is about conflict and how destructive division can be. Tragically, we still see conflict around the world, particularly in the Ukraine and the Middle East. We also have conflict far nearer to home, in our politics, our churches and in our own personal lives. By contrast however, there are many who daily strive for the common good. In this season of Lent let us reflect on these human failings as well trying to emulate those who work for the greater good too. May we put conflict aside and seek to further God’s Kingdom here on earth instead.
