PEOPLE are being invited to share their old photographs and memorabilia for a village celebration of 'Littondale life through the ages' due to take place over a weekend in May.

Over the weekend, at Amerdale Hall, and St Oswald's Church in Arncliffe, there will be displays of photographs, farming equipment and other general memorabilia to celebrate life over the years in Littondale.

In St Oswald's Church, there will be a selection of exhibits from Upper Wharfedale Arts and Literature Society's (UWALS) 2022 exhibition 'Presenting the Past' which brought together photographs and interviews from across the Upper Wharfedale area.

And Amerdale Hall will be displaying photographs and objects that reflect the lives of the families that have lived in the dale for generations, including a picture of Marmaduke Miller and friends outside The Falcon pub, in 1950; and a picture of a laughing Mary Miller in the post office, with postmistress Annis Gill, taken sometime in the 1990s.

One of the organisers, Michelle Miller, said exhibits are welcomed from all sources - with people given time to set up their own display over two days before the exhibition gets underway.

She said: "We suggest that copies of photographs for example are used where possible and we cannot accept any liability for damage or loss. We will give all exhibitors an area to exhibit within and will invite guests to vote for their favourite display through the weekend. "So far information has been collated that reflects the dale's pubs, its school, the village hall and the families who lived here."

Throughout the weekend, the pantomimes that were put on in the hall during the 1980s will be screened within the bar area of the hall alongside the exhibition. There will also be a treasure hunt around the village reflecting the historical theme of the day, with sheets available in the hall. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available throughout, and outside on the village green there will be a display of vintage tractors and farm equipment .

'Littondale Life Through the Years' will be held on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday May 12, from 10.30am to 4.30pm at Amerdale Hall and at St Oswalds Church, Arncliffe, Littondale.

Anyone with any photographs or memorabilia they would like to feature, is asked to email Michelle Miller at mbmaloney@hotmail.com; so organisers know how much space they will need.
