THE second annual Skipton Eco Day is due to take place in Skipton Town Hall on Saturday, April 27.

Around 30 organisations are due to take place in the event which in addition to promoting the work of those with an interest in protecting the environment will include activities for children and families.

Nicky Shoesmith, president of Skipton Rotary Club, organisers of the event, said “'Our Environment' is one of the key platforms for Rotary’s activities and Eco Day aims to provide a voice for the many local organisations trying to get their voices heard in our community. On top of that we hope to raise some funds that we will donate to some of these groups to enable them to grow and serve the people of Skipton and Craven on issues that are in many cases quickly becoming critical to protect this special place where we live".

Activities for children and families will include face painting, animal interactions, human fruit machine, and an eco quiz in Skipton Woods.

The event is being sponsored by Broughton-based environmental consultancy Beyondly; in addition to parking in the town, there will be parking at Skipton Building Society for £3 for the day from 10am. The car park is run by Skipton Rotary Club on Saturdays during the summer months to raise money for charities.
