Burnsall Players are treading the boards again.

To mark the bi-centenary of Charles Dickens’ birth and to celebrate their return after three years to the newly-refurbished Burnsall Village Hall, they are staging the musical Oliver!

Based on a story by Charles Dickens. it tells of an orphan who runs away from an orphanage and hooks up with a group of boys trained to be pickpockets by an elderly mentor.

Director Ed Williams said: “Oliver has been in production since October 2011 and sees the well known characters of this renowned musical brought to life by the ensemble cast of seasoned stage actors from the local community with the inclusion of fresh new musical talent of young Anna Staveley as Oliver, Matt Daggett as The Artful Dodger, Will Fry as the evil Bill Sykes and Polly Chapman taking on the tough yet coveted role of Nancy.”

With the newly renovated hall boasting a new digital lighting and sound system, ‘Oliver!’ will be bigger and brighter than ever - marking a welcome return of the Burnsall Players.

The show will be staged next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 23 to 25 and again the following Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3. Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets are available from 01756 720460 or 720335.
