Craven’s bravest residents are being invited to join Ribble Valley & White Rose Ladies’ latest and most daring fundraising feat – a barefoot walk across hot coals.

The charity fire walk is the latest in a series of events organised on behalf of the Skipton-based female fundraising force to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The event, which is being held on Sunday, March 11, at Skipton’s Rendezvous Hotel, is being organised by the hotel’s front-of-house manager Rebecca Lawrence.

Rebecca, who leads the hotel’s fundraising team, said: “We’re giving daredevils a once-in-a-lifetime chance to put their best foot forward and take part in this event. Places are strictly limited to 30 participants, so budding firewalkers should register their interest quickly.

“We raised £3,000 last year and hope to beat that total this year,” she added.

Ribble Valley & White Rose Ladies was set up in 1998 to raise money for research into childhood cancer. Since then, the group have raised more than £810,000 for Cancer Research UK. They are set to reach their £1 million milestone later this year.

Supporters are welcome to watch the scorching spectacle, which kicks off at 6.30pm with pre-walk training. The fire will be lit at 8.30pm, followed by the fire walk at 9pm and celebrations afterwards.

To take part, participants must commit to raising at least £200 in sponsorship.
