An entry of 65 Dairy Cattle including 59 newly calved met a strong trade at the Annual Bentham Genus Dairy Event.
The judge Aubrey Greenhalgh picked as his Champion ‘Luptonhall Prestwick Delores 2’ from David Barton, of Kirkby Lonsdale, a Pedigree Heifer, eight days calved, giving 29kgs and selling for £2,650 to Alan Dickinson of Greystoke.
Reserve Champion Heifer from Brian Robinson, of Hollins, made £2,220. ‘Hollinholme Janet 221’ was 10 days calved, giving 30kgs selling to Robert Ford, of Brindley.
Other leading prices included from G&AE Smith of Claughton-on-Brock, ‘Flashouse Design June’, a 26 days calved heifer giving 38kgs at £2,400. A complete clearance of newly calved heifers with 18 making in excess of £2,000.
