YOUNGSTERS in Silsden gathered to celebrate the centenary of their school building.
Hothfield Junior School opened its doors in the 1970s, but its building originally housed Silsden Secondary Modern School and was completed 100 years ago.
Hothfield’s children found out about the school’s history by interviewing former pupils, including two people in their 90s who were educated at the building in the 1930s.
The children put together a presentation about what they had learned about school life over the decades.
Headteacher James Procter said: “We invited the Bradford Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress to visit us during the day, and in the evening we invited the Silsden community to come and take a trip down memory lane and relive their school days.
“It was great for our pupils to talk to many generations of Silsden people, and for everyone to feel a common bond as former Hothfielders.”
