LITTER picking heroes were amongst the many local residents to take home the plaudits at the 2015 Pride of Barnoldswick Awards.

Veronica Hunt is a litter picking star, working on her own and during Community Action Days to help improve Barnoldswick. She also volunteers with Barnoldswick in Bloom.

Litter pickers Pam Prenton, Marion Fraser, Pete Lincoln and Karen Demain have been busy tidying up Barnoldswick’s hedgerows, footpaths and verges.

Chris, Jane and Craig Lambert have regularly litter picked and cleaned up an area of open space near their home for some time.

Litter picking duo James and Judith Wilson have been recognised for the development of a litter carrying cart, but they also participate in community events and host charity fundraising quizzes.

Heather Sheldrick, another avid litter picker, is the epitome of proud Barlickers, promoting the town through her singing, book publishing and activities.

Nigel and Pam Bradley were recognised for their work with young people through the Boys' Brigade in Barnoldswick for at least 15 years.

Emma West is a mainstay of Barnoldswick’s Bands On The Square event, scouting for talent and meticulously stage managing the performers.

Karl Bannister has been with the Bands On The Square festival and volunteered his time to help set up and take down the event in recent years.

Keith Mitchell has offered invaluable and unflagging assistance with community events, moving equipment and material onto and off the town square.

Keith Pickup and Elaine Eccles have led the annual Beating the Bounds walk since founding walker Allan Buck gave up the role. They also help with Barnoldswick’s community cinema and Elaine is a Barnoldswick in Bloom volunteer.

Jim Maden is a walk leader with the Tuesday Walk and Talk group and he also became a first aider through the town council's community course.

Melissa, from the House of Flowers, always goes the extra mile whenever a town event is held.

Sophie Mitchell, from the Café on the Square, won the Pendle Business Awards’ Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and her fresh approach with the café is a credit to her and to Barnoldswick.

Glory Glory Vintage transformed the former solicitor’s office into a retail property fit to grace any high street.

Decisions Decisions' relocation into the former Railway pub is an award winning investment, turning what was a prominent eyesore into an asset.

Until recently, Matt Lunney was Barnoldswick's community beat officer for over seven years and is warmly regarded by townsfolk. Less well known is his singing, which has supported more than one community event.

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School's E-Cool Club has supported the Barnoldswick in Bloom initiative for several years. The group has received a Dementia Friends award through their activities at Cravenside Home for Older People and also a Blue Peter Badge.
