CRAVEN people eligible for free NHS health checks are being encouraged to take-up the offer.
Anyone aged 40 to 74, without previously diagnosed diabetes or heart or chronic kidney disease, could be invited for an assessment.
"This is an important step for many people towards improving their lifestyle and becoming more aware of what they can do to minimise health risks," said North Yorkshire county councillor David Chance, portfolio holder for public health and stronger communities.
"I think of the check as being a 'mid-life MoT' to ensure some of your body's most important systems are running smoothly and crucially to detect potential problems early and allow you to put them right before they do real damage."
The assessment includes blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass index.
