CRAVEN College GCSE Fresh Start students Sam Melia and Wachirawit Inthanin, known to his friends as Beck, are delighted with their results because it means they will progress on to A-levels and the business studies diploma, respectively, at Craven College.

Sam, from Steeton, came to Craven College to enhance his GCSE profile and is really pleased to have gained A, A, B, B, in religious studies, citizenship, English and maths plus a work skills qualification.

He is now ready for A-level study in biology, English language and sociology.

Sam said: “With Bs in maths and English I can now do the A-levels I want. Maths wasn’t easy but with a great teacher and lots of hard work I got the result I wanted. The best thing about coming to Craven College has been meeting lots of nice people.”

Beck, from Guiseley, said: “I had been to a few schools including Aireville (now The Skipton Academy) but really needed good grades in maths and English at GCSE to do level three business studies at Craven College. The Fresh Start course was great and I got Bs in maths and English."

Principal Robert Bellfield said: “It is important for many of our students who did not reach their full potential studying GCSEs at school or wanted to improve their grades to be able to come to Craven College and learn in an adult environment. This can be of real benefit to them as they receive the support they need to flourish.

"I am so proud of how hard our staff and students have worked this year and these results sum up how much effort has gone into this year’s studies. Congratulations to all on their personal achievements”.
