ADDINGHAM Allotments and Gardens Association's 36th Spring Flower Show was well supported by local gardeners and schoolchildren.

The Association’s Spring Show was held at Addingham Memorial Hall, Main Street, on Saturday.

Organisers say the weather was very wet and blustery leading up to the show, but it was dry and sunny for show day.

Following last year's record entries it was thought that due to the very unseasonal weather this winter entries would probably be down this year. But to the delight of the organisers, Addingham people managed to put in even more entries from a greater number of exhibitors.

These figures were further enhanced by 132 additional exhibits from the children of Addingham School, also an increase. The school children will be designing the show publicity posters from next year's spring show.

Visitors and exhibitors filled the hall, admired the items on display, enjoyed the coffee morning and caught up with friends.

There was strong competition in the recently-added art class, with 12 entries and the judge, Susan Ross, was complimentary of the entries.

The trophies were presented by Show Secretary, Ramon Porter, and appreciation extended by Tom Benstead, chairman of the association.

Winners included Don Barrett, who won the best in flowers trophy and the Low Mill Cup for the best vase of 10 cut daffodils and pupil Ffion Williams who won the Children's Shield.
