U3A talk: Richard Hargreaves will give an illustrated talk to Settle U3A. His lecture, Mountains of Peace in the Balkans, will show the flower-rich scenery and the homes and lifestyles of people living in one of the least known parts of Europe. The meeting takes place in Victoria Hall, today, with coffee served from 10am and the talk at 10.30am. Visitors are welcome for an admission charge of £2.

Old Settle: John Reid will give a talk on Old Settle, alongside an exhibition of photographs, in Settle Parish Church tomorrow at 7.30pm. Admission is £5 and proceeds will go to the Aspire and Renew appeal.

Artisans Fair: The monthly artisans fair will take place at Victoria Hall on Saturday between 9am and 2pm. There will be a range of stalls and a vintage cafe. School reunion: A reunion is being held for old scholars who started at Settle High School in September 1965 and will be turning 60 this year. Messy church: The next messy church session will take place in St John’s Hall on Sunday between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. There will be the opportunity to take part in crafts, celebratory worship and to share a family meal.

Operatic workshop: Settle Amateur Operatic Society will hold a workshop session on Sunday for its forthcoming production of Guys and Dolls. It will take place in the parish hall of St Mary and St Michael on Kirkgate at 1pm.

Photographic Group: Settle Photographic meets on Monday at 7.30pm at Townhead Court. The talk will be The Development of Photo Artworks with Gordon Fletcher, of the University of Central Lancashire. Members are reminded that the meeting on April 7 is the AGM and they should give thought to the number of vacancies on the committee.

Victoria Hall: Next Friday, March 21, there will be ska/reggae music from Pikey Beatz. Ramjam and Dalesjam return on the 22nd when more than 40 musicians will take to the stage. Tickets are available from 01729 825718 Guided walk: The Friends of Settle to Carlisle have arranged a guided walk for next Saturday, March 22, from Dent station to Dent village. The seven-mile walk is suitable for families, but not for buggies and pushchairs. Those taking part should meet at Dent Station at 12.15pm. Settle Orchestra: Settle Orchestra will give a concert next Saturday, March 22, at the Richard Whiteley Theatre, Giggleswick School, at 7.30pm. Women’s Institute: At the annual general meeting, Joy Calvert was re-elected president and Sue Sellars and Mavis Garnett were welcomed to the committee. The walking group will meet next Thursday, March 20, to catch the 9.30am bus to Ingleton. The lunch club will meet on Thursday, March 27, to catch the 11.30am bus to Craven College, Skipton. The next meeting will be the 25th birthday party on Wednesday, April 2. This meeting will start at 12.30pm for a buffet lunch, followed by a speaker. Flowerpot Festival: There will be an informal drop-in event at the Folly on March 27 between 3pm and 8pm to allow the public and business representatives to meet members of the Flowerpot Festival Team and find out how you can take part.
