Parish council: Embsay-with-Eastby Parish Council has raised a formal objection to the recent outline planning application for residential development which provides an extension to a previously consented housing site on land off Shires Lane, Embsay. The objection is based on the comments and views of the parish council’s independent planning consultant who is commissioned to provide guidance on major planning matters including applications for new housing developments. Members have concluded that this is a completely new proposal about which there has been neither consultation nor community engagement. The application site is not included within or considered as part of the 2013 Community Engagement Event nor is it included within the CDC Consultation Draft Documentation. It is not one of CDC’s preferred sites. Other concerns include the piecemeal manner in which the site is being considered, the further encroachment of the urban form of the village into open countryside and the claim by the developer that approval will prevent further applications coming forward for new housing. A number of local residents have raised their own concerns about the proposed development.
