Sunday, June 24, 5.45pm: Latest estimates, yet to be verified, claim up to 25,000 saw the Torch in Skipton. Incredible scenes. And the sun shone.

Sunday, June 24, 5.30pm: Most of the crowds have gone and the big clear-up has begun on Skipton High Street. Well done to all those who made today such a success. Please send us through your pictures of the event to adrian.braddy@cravenherald.co.uk. Watch out for a special edition of the Herald on Thursday, packed with photographs of the big day.

Sunday, June 24, 4.45pm: Wow! The procession has just ended amid amazing scenes in Skipton. An estimated 15,000 lined the streets in the sunshine as the torch was carried through town. What a day. Pictures to follow.

Sunday, June 24, 3.25pm: The Olympic Torch is on time, due in Skipton at about 4.05pm. It arrives in town at Farm Croft, on Keighley Road. Already little viewing space on the High Street. We suggest you look for a spot elsewhere on the route.

Sunday, June 24, 3.10pm: Massive crowds in Skipton for the Festival of Culture and Sport, which has just finished. People are beginning to make their way to the setts for a good view of the torch. Chairman of Craven District Council said: "This is the best atmosphere I've ever experienced on Skipton High Street. It's a real carnival atmosphere."

Sunday, June 24, 12.02pm:Just four hours to go. Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport Jeremy Hunt said: “At just over half way through its journey the Flame has already travelled thousands of miles, visited hundreds of villages, towns and cities and been greeted by 4.1 million people up and down the country. Now it’s Yorkshire and the Humber’s turn to join in the celebrations. This region has a huge amount to be proud of, from its magnificent countryside to its bustling cities and the Torch Relay will offer a great opportunity to showcase the area to the rest of the country and the world.”

Sunday, June 24, 10.55am: Local weather expert Lee Schofield's forecast is encouraging: "Brightening up with sunny spells and just the slight risk of a light shower. Max 16c. Dry overnight min 8c."

Sunday, June 24, 11.05am: The Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has welcomed the return of the Olympic Flame to Yorkshire as Skipton awaits its arrival today. The Flame is visiting more than 70 villages, towns and cities on its tour of the region including Bradford, Leeds, Huddersfield, Barnsley and Sheffield. Mr Clegg said today: “Over the past few weeks the Olympic Torch Relay has received a phenomenal welcome on its travels around the UK. Now it is Yorkshire and Humber’s time to get involved. I know that the people here are going to give the relay a fantastic reception. Local companies have already played a big part in the preparations for the Olympics with 40 businesses providing building material for the Olympic Park and hundreds more receiving other Games-related contracts. In the coming weeks the area will have an even bigger role to play as we host 13 training camps. Yorkshire and the Humber is also home to a number of the UK’s top Olympic athletes so when the Games start I am sure we will all be cheering them on.”

Sunday, June 24, 10.15am: The Festival of Culture and Sport is open, meaning the countdown to the arrival of the Olympic Torch has officially begun. There is a lot happening on Skipton High Street for the rest of the day. If you take any pictures, please send them to news@cravenherald.co.uk or Tweet them to @CravenHerald and we may publish them in the paper.

Saturday, June 23, 3.45pm: Definitely drying up a bit now. Great cartoon here though.

Saturday, June 23, 11am: Good morning from a rather soggy Skipton. There may be floods galore, but the weather forecast for Sunday keeps improving. It now looks likely we'll have a dry, if a little windy, day. If you're planning on coming into Skipton, consider using the park and ride service as the town centre car parks will be packed if that rain keeps off.

Friday, June 22, 3.40pm: Good news - the weather forecast for Sunday is improving. Our forecasters are now predicting just a four per cent chance of rain between noon and 6pm on Sunday - that's down from 10 per cent earlier today. Sunshine is also on the cards at the moment. Whatever happens, the rain of today is not expected to continue at the same levels into the weekend.

Friday, June 22, 3.18pm: It is believed that Skipton is the only destination on the whole relay where the torch will double back on itself. The flame will be carried up Skipton High Street, around the war memorial and back down the High Street again, giving the crowds two opportunities to see the flame - something that is unique to the town. Having said this, crowds are expected to be large on the High Street and you will get a better view elsewhere on the route, along Keighley Road or Otley Road.

Friday, June 22, 11.55am: It's not all about the torch. There will be an action-packed Festival of Culture and Sports on Sunday, ahead of the relay. One of the more unusal sights will be a giant aluminium whale!

Friday, June 22, 11.10am: Skipton's getting a soaking today, but our latest weather forecast suggests things will have improved by noon on Sunday. Our forecasters are currently predicting sunshine and showers with only a 10 per cent chance of rain, so let's hope it's not a repeat of the Diamond Jubilee.
