Skipton did the county proud last week when it hosted Yorkshire Day.
The parade of 200 civic dignitaries from across Yorkshire through the town centre was an impressive sight, as was the canal boat flotilla.
They certainly looked resplendent in their robes and chains, and our photographer’s impressive picture taken from Skipton Castle (see centre pages) really captures the sense of civic pride.
But perhaps most impressive was the family friendly events that followed.
The urban beach at the Canal Basin proved very popular, and it was great to see so many small children having a whale of a time.
Skipton Town Council, Skipton Business Improvement District (BID) and Skipton Building Society deserve praise for putting on such a fine and enjoyable event.
