It’s not been an easy time for those working in the NHS in recent years.
Reorganisations, efficiency savings and certain scandals have all had an effect on morale.
But it’s clear that the NHS is widely loved and we mustn’t take for granted the hugely important role it plays.
It’s important we take time to show our appreciation for those working on the coalface and behind the scenes who regularly go above and beyond the call of duty.
So it’s good to see the efforts of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust rewarded this week.
Nationally there have been stories about the quality of care suffering in hospitals over weekends.
It’s reassuring therefore to hear that Airedale offers consistently good care across the whole week.
More importantly, the award is based on figures – it has one of the lowest mortality rates and re-admission rates in the country.
Something the staff there should be very proud of.
