Sir – We are writing with regard to the large amount of planned residential development for Skipton and how that fits in with the development of the local plan.

At present there are sites that would provide over 250 properties currently going through planning (not including the Granville Street development which is already currently underway).

At the recent council-run public event regarding the development of the local plan, the implication was that Skipton would only need 69 new properties a year going forward.

With so many sites already approved we would hope this would mean the council would seriously consider the need for any further housing development approvals until the new plan is in place, to do otherwise would be of detriment to Skipton's reputation as a market town.
