Sir – I note that yet again a few people, entrusted with a asset belonging to the populace, are prepared to sell it to a few.
I refer to the trustees of the Tarn Moor Estate who want to sell the two fields between the top of Raikes Road and White Hills Lane for housing.
The first the said populace knew about this was an article in the Craven Herald a few weeks ago.
By then of course, the said few had drawn up a detailed plan for 50+ houses.
The plan submitted for approval suggested there was a need for such houses.
Why? Are there 50+ executives queuing up to come and live there?
And why do the trustees want to realise a six figure sum? They say to develop a tarn, that used to be in the adjacent field.
A pity they feel the need to destroy two fields in order to do so.
They have not previously shown a burning desire to contribute money for the benefit of wildlife.
Wouldn’t it have been nice, for example, if they had contacted one of the various wildlife charities to see if they were willing to lease the said two fields? Looks like another case of “money rules ok”.
