Sir – I swim six days a week at home using Hertfordshire University pool usually 80 lengths a session.
Sometimes I pop down to Brighton from St Albans and enjoy the sea there too.
In Embsay for my father-in-law’s 90th birthday, I used Skipton’s pool. Good news on Sunday – tenth anniversary and swims were a £1.
What I hadn’t realised was what a delicate flower the Yorkshire rose is judging by the temperature of the pool – 31c for lane swimming!
Ok so the sea’s cooler I know, but I do feel for the Craven rate payer heating a pool above 26c for lane swimmers.
Needless to say after a mile I decided it was just too hot to swim – presumably why everyone else was going so slowly.
