Steeton boss Roy Mason is hoping that he can take the club forward this campaign after their best-ever season.

The Chevrons finished third in the West Riding County Amateur Premier Division and won the Keighley Cup.

“We really just want to go that step further this year,” said Mason. “Our main targets are to do well in the league, retain the Keighley Cup and perform a lot better in the county cup as well.”

Mason believes that keeping hold of his successful team was the most important thing and adding just two new signings in Danny McNulty and Martin Bland.

He added: “Danny McNulty is a good young player from Silsden and has really performed well in pre-season, whereas Martin is a well-known character and will give us a wealth of experience.

“But the most important thing for us is that we’ve managed to keep the squad together. There were a lot of teams which play at a higher level who were after some of our players after the season we had.”
