Dalton United 1 Barnoldswick Town 3 THREE points away to a team just below them in the league gave Town more breathing space.

They took an early lead through a Mick Holt penalty, but then came under pressure from Dalton who searched for an equaliser.

Fortunately Town managed to hold out until half time and things looked up soon after the play resumed when they were awarded a second penalty.

Up stepped Holt for his second penalty of the game and once again he made no mistake. However, Holt had to leave the field shortly after due to an injured picked up in winning the penalty.

With seven minutes left on the clock, Dalton pulled a goal back and it looked like Town would come under the cosh, but they held firm and made the game safe when Stuart Airdrie burst through and, with Dalton appealing for offside, he easily scored to make the game safe for the Town.

It will be a relief for the new managers to have a run of three home games coming up as, since they took over, they have played all their games away from home.

They start this Saturday when Wren Rovers are the visitors then Euxton Villa and Dalton, both below them in the table, come to Victory Park allowing Town an excellent chance of moving into the top half of the league. Kick off is 3pm.

o Town reserves lost 2-1 at home to Todmorden. They are due to travel to Bolton County this weekend.
