South Craven School 2 St Bede's School 1
South Craven got off to a winning start in the Bradford Secondary Schools Sports Association Floodlit League.
The game was played at Carlton Bolling College in Bradford as neither school has a floodlit pitch.
St Bede's were 1-0 up at half-time despite South Craven having chances to score.
After a stern half-time team talk, it took the Cross Hills school just ten minutes to equalise from a fast break that saw Andy Briggs fend off a defender and drive the ball into the corner of the net with precision.
With seven minutes left, South Craven got the winner after a succession of corners, Charlie Rhodes scoring with a near-post header.
