Barnton 1 Barnoldswick Town 0
Just 48 hours after their semi-final first leg triumph in the Macron Cup, Town suffered a disappointing away defeat.
Their performance was that of a side jaded by their cup exertions and they never found the fluency or the verve which recently took them on an eight-match unbeaten run.
Having mixed it against the league’s top sides with favourable outcomes, this time they were beaten by a side beneath them in the Premier Division.
The only goal came in the 39th minute. Thursday’s hero Gidley raced out to try and head a long ball from Ryan Malone clear but the bounce beat him and the ball looped into the net.
